The Beacon Falls Board of Selectmen voted July 22 to send two budget transfers to a townwide meeting on Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Assembly Room at 10 Maple Avenue.
Gerard Smith reviewed the transfers, noting they exceed the $20,000 threshold and therefore require a town vote. "MK motioned to move both budget transfers presented to a town meeting to be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 6:30 PM located in the Town Hall Assembly Room, 10 Maple Avenue Beacon Falls, CT 06403," the minutes record. Peter Betkoski seconded and the board recorded all ayes.
The transfers are listed in Exhibit A: $27,000 moved from Contingency (10.90.83.1170) to Sludge Processing (10.90.67.1770) to cover underbudgeted sludge processing costs, and $16,960.29 moved from Wages—Highway Maintainers (10.90.59.1013) to Public Works Overtime (10.90.59.1049); the minutes note this second transfer is in addition to $19,999 from winter months. The memo accompanying the transfers states the moves are necessary due to mid-year cost increases and overtime needs.
The board took no further amendments. The transfers will appear on the Aug. 10 town meeting warrant for a townwide vote; Exhibit A is cited in the minutes as the source for the line-item details.
The special meeting opened at 1:02 p.m. and adjourned at 1:09 p.m.
