The Board approved a resolution on Dec. 16 authorizing parking-lot repairs and plumbing work at Madison and Edison elementary schools, to be funded from School Fire Prevention and Life Safety bond proceeds. The action follows a 10-Year Health Life Safety Survey by Arcon Architects that flagged sidewalks, parking lots and plumbing concerns requiring code-compliant repairs.
Superintendent Dr. Margaret Clauson explained that under Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Health Life Safety requirements, exterior site work and plumbing projects must follow a formal approval process, including a public hearing and a Board resolution, to be eligible for Health Life Safety funding. The meeting record shows the corresponding public hearing was held and the Board adopted the resolution to proceed with the identified work.
