The Board of Education of Skokie School District 68 opened a public hearing at 7:03 p.m. on Jan. 16 on its intent to sell up to $6,125,000 in Working Cash Fund Bonds to increase the district's working cash reserve. The district explained the bonds are non-referendum instruments intended to manage timing gaps in revenue and to maintain operational flexibility.
President Joseph Ruffner asked if anyone wished to comment; "No-one came forward," and the public hearing was closed at 7:08 p.m. The board did not take a vote at the hearing itself; the hearing served as the statutorily required notice and opportunity for public comment prior to any later action on bond issuance. The district described the bonds as repaid over a set number of years using future revenues or other income streams.
