Leon County approves community events, $1,000 for conservation district and electrical service for former MHMR building

At its June 25 meeting the Leon County Commissioners Court approved several community uses of the courthouse square, modest budget support for a local conservation district, and immediate electrical service to a county facility.
The court approved the National Honor Society’s request to use the courthouse square for a fundraising car wash Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, from 11 a.m.–2 p.m., and approved Agrilife’s request to use the square for a tree-lighting ceremony on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, from 5–8 p.m. The court also approved adding $1,000 to the FY25/26 budget and a contract for services with Bedias Creek Soil and Water Conservation District #428 (motion by Commissioner Joey Sullivan, seconded by Commissioner Paul Bing). Commissioner Kyle Workman moved, seconded by Commissioner Paul Bing, to turn on electrical service immediately at the old MHMR building next to Annex 1 with contingency funds covering costs; the motion carried.
