Parish told $2.5M in state funding secured; ferry coming in September

David Koch of the PCOR Group briefed the Cameron Parish Police Jury on state-level funding outcomes and legislative trends on Aug. 10.
Koch said the state faced an approximate $100 million revenue shortfall in spring forecasting but that parish efforts helped secure about $2.5 million in funding for local projects. "About 800,000 to the Parish wide road rehab program, 125,000 for flood prevention efforts, 500,000 to the Port Of Cameron for dock restoration expansion, 800,000 for Highway 82 improvements," Koch told jurors. He also said the Cameron Ferry project — funded in 2025 through the capital highway program — has completed Coast Guard inspections and is expected on-site in mid-September.
Koch described ongoing intergovernmental work on the Pontoon Bridge feasibility plan and said roughly $80 million of an estimated $120 million needed has been identified, with the delegation continuing to seek the remainder through federal and state sources. He flagged House Bill 1200 (a rural infrastructure revolving-loan program) and other legislative instruments that may benefit parish projects.
