Skokie SD 69 board begins 2026–2031 strategic plan process; West 40 to lead engagement

Vice President Joanne Marsden called the School District 69 special meeting to order Dec. 2 at the Maier Administration Center, where the board heard an overview of a multi‑year strategic planning process that will culminate in adoption of the 2026–2031 Strategic Plan.
Superintendent Dr. Margaret Clauson introduced Liza Sullivan, the District's Community Schools Development Director, and the West 40 facilitation team — Dr. Julie Morris, Dr. Nimisha Bhatt and Anna Mae Grams‑Pullappally — who outlined the process. The West 40 presenters described four primary components: districtwide parent and student surveys administered in October, a series of focus groups planned for January, a Strategic Plan Work Group scheduled for February, and subsequent plan drafting and review steps.
Board members reviewed the District's current Mission and Vision and discussed embedding the essential elements of Continuous Quality Improvement, Equity and Communication into each goal area rather than listing them separately. Members said those elements are integral to the work and requested that West 40 reflect board input when designing the focus group prompts and draft goals.
The Board's feedback will guide West 40's preparations for the January sessions and the February work group. There was no action or vote to adopt plan language at this meeting; the hearing materials indicate the process will continue through early 2026 toward formal adoption of the 2026–2031 Strategic Plan.
