District 69 rolls out automated absence alerts and 'Absence Requests' in Parent Portal; behavior training continues

Superintendent Dr. Margaret Clauson told the Board that District 69 has enabled an Auto Alert feature in ParentSquare to automatically notify families via email, text, and phone when a student has an unreported absence, prompting parents to contact the school. The district also launched an "Absence Requests" feature in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to allow families to submit planned or same-day absence notifications and reasons directly to their child’s building.
Administrators said the tools are intended to simplify absence reporting and improve attendance tracking. Dr. Clauson noted the district promoted these features and the strategic plan survey during recent parent–teacher conferences.
On student behavior supports, Dr. Aseltine reported the district is in year 3 of training with Safe and Civil Schools trainer Kim Earthman, who met with building teams and presented a parent session on Oct. 7 about Promoting Positive Behavior. The training continues to guide school-level implementation and progress monitoring.
