Superintendent Dr. Margaret Clauson told the Board that District 69’s Community Schools Department received $10,000 from the Skokie Community Foundation to support a Health Services Voucher Program in 2026. According to the report, the initiative is expected to provide approximately 40 vouchers for uninsured or underinsured students to access dental, vision, and mental-health services in partnership with three local health providers.
Dr. Clauson also said the Community Schools Department intends to apply for a 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant requesting $450,000 to support after-school and summer programs at all three district schools, with the stated goals of increasing students’ academic and social-emotional growth. The Board packet listed the grant application as a planned initiative; no final award was reported at the Oct. 21 meeting.
Board members did not vote on the grant application at the meeting; the $10,000 award and the planned application were presented as informational items during administrative reports.
