District 69 launches 2026–2031 strategic plan process with public input timeline

District leaders presented the framework and timeline for Skokie School District 69’s 2026–2031 strategic planning process at the Oct. 21 board meeting. Liza Sullivan and Dr. Megan Aseltine said the process will use West 40 facilitators and include anonymous parent/guardian and employee surveys administered by the ECRA Group, age-appropriate student surveys, focus groups, and a Strategic Plan work group that will meet in February 2026 to review initial data.
Key milestones listed by administrators include survey collection Oct. 13–26, a "State of the District" presentation to the Board on Nov. 18, focus groups Jan. 15–16, work group meetings on Feb. 5, 19, and 26, a draft plan presented March 17, and final Board approval scheduled for the April 21, 2026 meeting (administration had recommended moving that meeting to April 14, 2026 to comply with statutory timelines). The administration asked the Board to identify two representatives to serve on the February work group meetings.
Administrators said the process is designed to be inclusive, data-driven, and action-oriented, and that final strategies will align school improvement plans and annual goals beginning summer 2026. The Board will review mission, vision, and goal-area materials at a Dec. 2 special meeting.
