Tarin Kendrick, executive director of the Niles Township Department of Special Education (NTDSE), and Heather Lane, NTDSE assistant business manager, presented an overview of NTDSE services, enrollment figures, and financial information at the Oct. 21 School District 69 board meeting. Kendrick and Lane said member districts will participate in a special education audit and that NTDSE is discussing its need for additional space to serve students and operations.
Kendrick and Lane fielded board questions about enrollment trends and finances and asked member districts to consider next steps for audit participation and facility planning. The presentation, delivered during the communications portion of the agenda, was followed by a request from Dr. Mark Chao that the NTDSE board brief be uploaded to District 69’s board packet each month so trustees have regular access to the cooperative’s updates.
The presentation did not include specific dollar figures beyond enrollment and financial overviews shared in the cooperative’s report; board members requested the NTDSE briefing be included in future packets for ongoing review.
