Board adopts new form to issue written decisions at meetings to speed appeal clock

The Oxford Board of Appeals adopted a change in procedure to complete and sign written decisions at the meeting when possible, rather than preparing and circulating a draft days later. Lindsey Ryan, the town attorney, explained the new form will include the motion and the required findings so the board can review and sign the order at the meeting and start the appeal period.
"Instead of that time period and a lengthy back and forth, instead, we're going to adopt this form provided you all agree to it," the town attorney said as she described the new process. The chair and members supported the approach as a way to reduce delay and provide clarity about when the 30-day appeal period starts; the town attorney said members would review the completed form before signing it the same evening when appropriate.
