Huachuca City Council unanimously approved Resolution 2026-01 on March 12 to participate in an IGA with Cochise County that pools local opioid-settlement allocations for joint distribution and programming.
Town Manager Suzanne Harvey told the council that local allocations were modest but pooling made sense administratively and programmatically: “They have $3,000,000 sitting in that account,” she said, referring to combined county and municipal funds, and noted the IGA creates an advisory board to ensure local input. She said Huachuca City’s portion is approximately $28,000 and that pooled funds could support larger, countywide mitigation projects.
The council voted to approve Resolution 2026-01, authorizing the mayor to sign the agreement and appointing a local representative to the advisory board to participate in decisions about fund distribution.
