Huachuca City to adopt online preapproved housing plan program to meet SB1529

The council voted unanimously to direct staff to begin the necessary code changes and to implement the online preapproved-plan program. The staff presentation described two paths: (A) municipal procurement to hire architects to produce public plan sets, or (B) an online library where architects submit plan sets for municipal pre-review and listing. "Senate Bill 1529, enacted in 2025, mandates that Arizona municipalities either create standard preapproved housing design plans or establish a preapproved housing design plan program for single-family, duplex, triplex, and ADU housing," the minutes record.
