Selectboard notes Friends of Lake Champlain grant for beach/boat launch; Fairfield led letter on Act 181

Cathy Ainsworth reported that porta-potties have been delivered to Fairfield Pond Beach and the Community Center. She reminded the Selectboard that Friends of Lake Champlain (FNLC) has an approved grant that, among other projects, is expected to address an issue identified at the boat launch and the beach through the Fairfield Pond Watershed study. The board asked FNLC to come to the Selectboard to discuss project specifics.
Separately, Selectboard member Brian Dubie reported that Fairfield was the first town to write a letter raising concerns about Act 181; approximately 20 other towns followed. He said the Vermont House amended the bill — removing the 'Road Rule' and Tier 3 — and the measure has moved to the Vermont Senate.
