Behavioral health coordination reports progress; new Emerging Needs grant round to open Aug. 31

Miss Amagoni presented the Behavioral Health Coordination monthly report, outlining invoice and progress updates for July and the status of the county’s small Emerging Needs grant cycles.
She said the 0.253 Emerging Needs cycle closed August 31 with four submissions and that the 0.254 cycle will open on August 31. The office uses an external evaluation pool: conflict-of-interest forms go to evaluators, who return scores; the team then totals scores and staff meet to allocate funding according to need and recommendations. "Once those are submitted, we total up the scores, and then Ashwini meets with Sam and I, and we decide based on the scores and the recommendations what fits the need and allocate funding accordingly," Miss Amagoni said.
Amagoni highlighted program activity — Home Sweet Home operating a bridge program, intensive family support services launched via the SOC grant, and other local providers continuing services despite recent funding volatility. The department said it is working to get invoices in so funds can be distributed quickly once awards are confirmed.
