The public hearing on Feb. 19, 2026, concerning proposed zoning text amendments drew no public attendees. Hearing officer Dr. Johnson opened the hearing, invited public input, and observed that only Town Clerk Brandye Thorpe and Chief of Police Wyatt Barry were present in the chamber in addition to himself.
Dr. Johnson told the record that "to date, there are no written comments, no phone in comments of any kind has been submitted." With no speakers coming forward, he closed the hearing and announced his recommendation to approve the amendment as written and to send the record to the Town Council for the council's final reading. The minutes show the meeting record was later approved by Mayor Johann R. Wallace on Feb. 26, 2026. Any final change to the zoning code requires council action.
