Perry warned that a decision not to approve would result in forfeiting a $500,000 grant and a $10,000 deposit the group placed on the property.
Board members debated transparency and possible conflict-of-interest concerns around a potential realtor; one board member urged recusal if an individual stood to gain. Perry characterized the purchase as an investment intended to preserve access to land for future expansion and said the JOC's budget target for a full ACTI build is roughly $30 million in combined contributions from the five districts, with grant-seeking planned to cover gaps.
Perry invited the public to attend an Aug. 26 JOC meeting at Adams County Technical Institute to hear more information and ask questions.
