Brian Cannon of Benton & Associates presented results of a recent inspection of the village water tower, reporting signs that could indicate a leak and recommending further testing to confirm whether water is escaping. Cannon advised prioritizing grout, concrete and foundation repairs and said a facility report would be required to pursue outside funding for major work.
Cannon said an exterior coating sample showed lead and estimated that coatings work would cost roughly $650,000–$670,000. He added that a brand-new tank’s cost would depend on tank size and that doing nothing is not recommended at the current tank age of about 57 years; typical tank life is 50–60 years. The board asked for additional cost estimates and noted funding options will be explored if the facility report supports grant eligibility.
