The Sweet Home Board of Education approved, on second reading, a package of revised policies at its Feb. 10 meeting, following the process set out in Board By‑Law 1410.
The policies adopted include 1220 (Board Members: Nomination and Election); 5413 (Procurement: Uniform Grant Guidance for Federal Awards); 5674 and 5850/5851 (Data Networks and Security Access; Cybersecurity Incident Response); 5681 (School Safety Plans); 5685 (Maximum Temperature for School Buildings and Indoor Facilities); 7316 (Use of Internet‑Enabled Devices During the School Day); and several health‑related policies including 7513 (Medication and Personal Care Items), 7521 (Students with Life‑Threatening Health Conditions) and 7522 (Concussion Management). The minutes cite Board of Education By‑Law #1410, which requires that policy additions or amendments be introduced in writing and moved at a public meeting at least 27 calendar days before a vote. "Board of Education By‑Law #1410 states that 'Board of Education policy and rules and bylaws shall be adopted, amended and/or suspended…only when the addition, amendments or suspension is first introduced in writing and is subsequently moved and seconded at a public meeting at least 27 calendar days prior to the time when such adoption, amendment and/or suspension may be voted upon,'" the minutes record.
