South Jacksonville approves $161,557.41 supplemental MFT appropriation for West Vandalia project

The Village of South Jacksonville unanimously approved a supplemental Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) appropriation of $161,557.41 on Nov. 6 to allow the Illinois Department of Transportation to reconcile records tied to the West Vandalia project (Village Lane to Diamond).
Treasurer Mindy Olson told trustees that IDOT discovered records indicating additional project funding in 2009–2010 that had not been presented to the board at the time; to clear IDOT's files the village must formally acknowledge that the spending was approved in the earlier period. "In order for IDOT to clean up their records the village has to approve the resolution showing that the board approved the spending back in 2009-2010," Olson said. Trustee J.W. Coleman moved to approve the supplemental resolution and Trustee Michael Preston seconded; the resolution passed unanimously on roll call.
The supplemental appropriation addresses historical accounting and recordkeeping for a specific capital project; no new capital work was authorized as part of the Nov. 6 vote. Trustees were not presented with new construction action beyond approving IDOT's record reconciliation request.
