Board takes first reading of multiple policy updates, approves high-school course handbook

At its Jan. 22 meeting, the board accepted first readings of a package of revised policies as presented by the superintendent under Board By-Law #1410. Policies introduced for first reading include 1220 (Board Members: Nomination and Election), 5413 (Procurement: Uniform Grant Guidance for Federal Awards), 5674 (Data Networks and Security Access), 5681 (School Safety Plans), 5685 (Maximum Temperature for School Buildings and Indoor Facilities), 5851 (Cybersecurity Incident Response), 7316 (Use of Internet-Enabled Devices During the School Day), 7513 (Medication and Personal Care Items), 7521 (Students with Life‑Threatening Health Conditions) and 7522 (Concussion Management).

The board also approved the Sweet Home High School Student Curriculum Handbook 2026–27 on the superintendent's recommendation. The minutes note that Joseph Lucenti, High School Principal, presented the course handbook update at a Jan. 13 study session. The policy revisions were entered as first readings consistent with the board’s bylaw requiring public introduction at least 27 days before final action.
