He said city speed studies reported an 85th-percentile speed of 24 mph on Prospect where speeds slow at curves, but on the straightaways engineers recorded a vehicle at 70 mph and roughly 300 vehicles traveling 45 mph or faster on Thomas Edison Parkway, and residents asked the city to evaluate straightaway speeds as well.
Huntum said repeated collisions with pedestrian yield signage and the city's quick removal of signs raised concerns about inconsistent responses. He praised Mayor Ashford and Councilmember Payton for engaging with neighbors but said other elected officials had been largely silent. The clerk noted the manager's administrative report would touch on some of these items; the council did not adopt specific traffic-control measures at the meeting.
