Chattahoochee Hills says parks now total about 1,200 acres after grants and donations

The city’s parks commission told the council on Dec. 4 that Chattahoochee Hills’ parkland has grown substantially through donations and grants.
The parks commission chair (speaker 11) said the city did not initially own parkland but has acquired parcels including Ricco Park, Hutchinson Ferry Park, Cochrane Mill Park, Riverlands Park and Campbellton Park for a combined total of roughly 1,200 acres. She credited private donations, the Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program and the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation — and partnerships with Trust for Public Land and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources — for funding facility and trail work.
The chair told the council that Campbellton Park has expanded from 18 acres to 97 acres with the most recent grant and that other grants and donations have totaled "almost $7,000,000." The grants support universal‑access trails, new bridges, pavilions, restrooms, campsites and a boat launch at New Riverlands Park.
Council members publicly thanked Diana Wilson and other volunteers and staff for leading preservation and park acquisition efforts.
