The Town Board approved multiple small capital contracts and budget transfers at its May 21 meeting, including two contracts awarded to Hargrave Construction. For Town Hall LED lighting upgrades the board accepted Hargrave’s $6,520 bid; Board Member Jennifer Hargrave was recorded as abstaining on that vote. For an electrical panel replacement at the highway shop the board accepted Hargrave’s $2,040 bid; Jennifer Hargrave again abstained on the vote, which carried.
The board also approved budget transfers to fund the lighting upgrades and equipment repairs. Motions included a $2,500 transfer from Contingency to Town Hall Equipment for grant-writing services; a combined transfer of $5,662.27 (from Contingency and Refunds) to cover $5,662.27 for Town Hall lighting upgrades including pole light by the playground; and a $10,281.71 debit from the DA230 Equipment Repair Reserve Fund credited to DA5130.4 Machinery Contractual for various equipment repairs. Members expressed concern about unusually high repair spending and asked the supervisor to prepare a detailed list of recent repairs and to encourage the highway superintendent to shop around for parts and consider renting rarely-used equipment.
