The Town of Thurston has contracted LaBella Associates to administer a $400,000 Community Development Block Grant, Lauryn DeCosta told the board May 21. Under the grant plan, $345,000 will go directly to housing rehabilitation projects, $35,000 will cover program delivery tasks such as inspections, and $20,000 is allocated for LaBella's administrative fee.
DeCosta said applications were sent to eligible households and the program targets five single-family, owner-occupied homes for structural, health and safety repairs; income limits apply to recipients. LaBella will act as the intermediary to submit required information to the state and draw down funds as projects move forward. The board accepted the presentation as part of public comment and will proceed with the grant administration contract.
