Parks and Recreation staff briefed council on the 15th annual Murphy May’s Days, reporting an estimated attendance of about 10,000 and a vendor mix that included roughly 60 artisan/craft vendors and 15 commercial businesses.
Event staff (Ashley) said the city sold 2,206 carnival ride tickets, 62 parking tickets and 23 tickets for the whiskey tasting; sponsorship and vendor income exceeded $16,000 (monetary) and ticketing revenue was nearly $20,000. Staff noted strong volunteer support—church groups and a high‑school service project were singled out—and said post‑event surveys showed 94% of respondents said they would attend again. Staff also recommended planning for additional staffing to help with trash and cleanliness given heavier usage.
Councilmembers praised the event, thanked staff and volunteers, and asked staff to prioritize staffing and layout improvements for next year.
