Safety committee: PERMA recommends new electric panel during Town Shop inspection
Summary
At the March 19 Safety Committee meeting, members toured the Town Shop where a PERMA inspection recommended replacing the electric panel; staff also showed recent safety upgrades including new doors, lighting, paint and an oil-room fireproofing door.
Michael Volino opened the Safety Committee meeting at 6:00 p.m. at the Town Shop so staff could demonstrate recent facility upgrades and ongoing safety needs. Committee members present included Michael Volino, Noel Sylvester, Diana Dixon, Ben Smith and Randy Akins.
Ben Smith led the tour and reported inspection results: "PERMA recommended a new electric panel be installed as the current one is getting older and is maxed out." He showed new overhead doors, new lights, two wash stations, new tow chains and said the entire shop had been repainted. The oil room was finished with a fireproofing door and a heater had been installed to prevent oil gelling in winter. Training records were reported up to date, and required workplace posters were displayed. It was requested that the temporary cart under one of the eye wash stations be removed so the station would not be blocked.
The committee logged the electric panel recommendation as a near-term safety priority for facilities maintenance and budgeting. Minutes were submitted by Sue Conklin, Town Clerk.
