Park board reappointments recommended; applicant protests eligibility rule

The Parks, Recreation and Tourism Commission voted to recommend reappointment of Jayson Scholtz and to forward nominations of Courtney Berg, Dave Lemanski and Alisa Schley to the Village Board for final approval on May 4. The motion was made by Cathy and seconded by Renee; members indicated terms and positions will be set at the Commission’s May meeting.
During the discussion Bill Brinkman, who said he was present at the meeting, expressed frustration at a rule that prevents paid Village employees from serving on the Parks Board. He said he understands the rationale but wants the policy applied consistently. The Commission did not change policy at the meeting and will send nominations to the Village Board for final action.
