The Tioga Central School District Board of Education on Aug. 20, 2025 approved a bond resolution authorizing the issuance of bonds not exceeding $380,000 to pay the cost of purchasing two school buses.
The resolution’s text states it is “A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF not exceeding $380,000 BONDS OF TIOGA CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT … TO PAY THE COST OF THE purchase of SCHOOL BUSES.” The action was included among the financial consent items approved by a 7-0 vote.
Board members were also asked to delegate authority to the Board President, as the district’s chief fiscal officer, to issue and sell bond anticipation notes and to determine final bond terms in accordance with the Local Finance Law. The resolution specifies that bonds may be issued with substantially level or declining annual debt service and requires publication of the resolution in the district’s official newspaper.
The bond stems from a proposition adopted by district voters at the May 20, 2025 annual meeting authorizing the purchase of two school buses at a maximum estimated cost of $380,000. The board’s resolution notes the transaction was determined to be a Type II Action under the State Environmental Quality Review Act and includes standard legal provisions about contesting bond validity and official intent for IRS/Treasury regulations.
