The Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Commission approved a memorandum of understanding with Gallatin County on July 21 to maintain participation in the Southwest Regional Juvenile Detention arrangement.
County Attorney Morgan Smith described the longstanding agreement and the federal/state grant flows (Gallatin County is the primary recipient for Montana Board of Crime Control funds). Commissioner Ed Beaudette noted past experience of costly out-of-county juvenile placements and said intercounty cooperation helps mitigate those expenses. Commissioner Beaudette moved approval and Commissioner Steve Gates seconded; the motion carried 5-0.
