County schedules tentative FY2026-27 public hearing for Aug. 25

Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Chief Financial Officer Eric Hoiland asked commissioners to set a public hearing on the fiscal year 2026-27 budget for Aug. 25, 2026, and outlined a schedule that would include preliminary action on Aug. 4, 2026, a staff approval target of Sept. 8 and a formal resolution to adopt the budget on Sept. 15. "The date that I have set aside is August 25, 2026, for a public hearing," Hoiland told the commission, adding the timeline leaves roughly 15 days as a buffer for any needed adjustments before the state deadline of Oct. 1, 2026.
Hoiland said the sequence is intended to give staff and commissioners flexibility if issues arise. Chairman Kevin Hart opened the floor for public comment during the discussion; none was given. The commission is scheduled to consider the hearing date and the preliminary budget steps at its next regular meeting.
