Superintendent Jennifer Dunn reported several operational and program updates to the Board on Jan. 9, 2025. Noting recent state action, Dunn said a bill was recently passed that will enforce a maximum classroom temperature for New York State classrooms and outlined mitigation strategies such as room moves, window shades and dimming lights.
Dunn also reported facility improvements already under way, including LED lighting upgrades across the building, a new digital front-lawn sign, and protective pads installed in the gym. She thanked Joe Tahan’s Furniture for donating new furniture for the student honor lounge. Dunn said the U.S. Department of Education’s Climate and Culture survey showed an 18% increase in complaints pertaining to mental health; the district is planning specialized speakers, in-house supports and online resources for students and families.
