Town says municipal dog pound is no longer up to code; town will partner with Tri-Lakes Humane Society

Supervisor Rick Dattola informed the board that the municipal dog pound is not up to current code and that rehabilitating it to meet updated state regulations would be costly. As an interim measure, Dog Control Officer Wayne LaPierre is coordinating with the Tri-Lakes Humane Society to take in animals the town cannot immediately return to owners.
Dattola said the Franklin County landfill has expressed potential interest in purchasing the property if the town declares it surplus; Town Attorney Kirk Gagnier said he would research the legal steps required to dispose of town property if the Town pursues that option.
