Interim superintendent outlines community outreach and student civil discourse campaign

Interim Superintendent Kim Kellison described outreach plans as part of Goal #3, telling the board she is meeting with business owners, government officials and students and attending community events such as Rotary while meeting with Chamber of Commerce, YMCA staff and City of Silverton representatives. She said the district is soliciting stakeholder feedback on what community partners need from the schools.
Kellison also reviewed a draft student campaign uploaded to BoardBook that would provide students guidance on do’s and don’ts during the election season and said the board would have a conversation with students. Separately, she announced a policy workgroup will focus on the April 2024 policy update release, with administrators and some parents invited to participate.
