Public Health Director Lauren Bolton presented two routine items at the July 14 work session: an annual clinical affiliation agreement with the Sherry Lesar School of Nursing at Montana Tech and an annual emergency preparedness task order totaling $33,469.
Bolton said the clinical affiliation permits nursing students to observe or provide services under supervision by county public health nurses. On the preparedness task order, she said the $33,469 award supports preparedness activities and cannot be used for capital improvements. Bolton summarized ongoing uncertainty about a larger federal‑to‑state rural health transformation allocation and said local officials have seen little evidence to date that those federal funds will support capital work in communities.
Commissioner Ed Beaudette asked about the potential funding for building upgrades discussed in earlier budget meetings; Bolton said the state process is still unfolding and that most released allocations have been routed to state contractors rather than local capital projects. Bolton said states must allocate the funds by the end of the calendar year and the county will continue to watch for RFPs.
