Tupper Lake electric: relay repair estimated $100,000; board accepts $10,000 NYSERDA grant

Electric Superintendent Michael Dominie told the board that annual relay testing done by Black & McDonald found Relay #3 requires repair; the relay will be de-energized and shipped to Troy, Missouri for rebuilding at an estimated cost of $100,000 and will be out of service for roughly eight to ten weeks while it is rebuilt. Dominie said the village electric system can carry the load during the repair period.
The board unanimously accepted a $10,000 NYSERDA grant to purchase battery-operated landscaping equipment and approved a $42.25 electric account write-off for a deceased customer. Dominie also warned trustees that transmission costs from National Grid and NYPA are anticipated to increase in the near future; he said he will update the board as developments arise.
