Coffee City Council voted to accept the city financials for September 2024 and to approve the minutes from its Sept. 9 meeting following a motion by Councilmember Carrie Ousley and a second by Councilmember Ruthie Seward. Mayor Jeff Blackstone told the council the negative number beside the EDC tax payment reflected a missed August payment, which resulted in two payments to the EDC in September.
Council members discussed a road expense item; Blackstone said the charge was for materials used in street repairs and Mary McDonald, the city secretary, confirmed the city paid for materials only and not for labor. The motion to approve the financials and minutes carried without further recorded objection.
