Council approves nearly $19.8M GMP amendment for joint Public Safety Training Center

The Cedar Park City Council on Sept. 26 approved a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) amendment to the existing Construction Manager-At-Risk agreement with CORE Construction Services of Texas, Inc. The amendment caps the contract for construction of the new joint Public Safety Training Center at an amount not to exceed $19,772,518.
Caleb Stockton, senior project manager, reviewed the scope of the project and said the facility will serve the Fire Department, Police Department and the Office of Homeland Security/Emergency Management. Councilmember Eric Boyce moved approval, Councilmember Kevin Harris seconded, and the motion passed 6-0 with Mayor Pro Tem Anne Duffy absent.
The amendment provides a not-to-exceed construction budget that will allow staff and the construction manager to proceed toward procurement and on-site work; the minutes record the dollar amount and the approving resolution number R222.24.09.26.H2. Any contract documents and change orders will appear in future public records.
