Keith Walters, the district’s law-enforcement officer, described changes to how safety drills are handled and other safety preparations. Walters said he has moved responsibility for evacuation and lockdown drills off campus administrators and now runs those drills centrally, and that once the district’s delegation email arrives from the school-safety center the EOP will be submitted for the year. "I run all the fire evacuation drills, lockdown drills, all that good stuff," he told trustees.
Walters said the district confirmed a memorandum of understanding with the city and county that is required for the EOP. He also outlined staff training plans, including qualification cycles for defenders and an in-house CPR instructor course to reduce reliance on outside trainers. Walters noted the high school passed a Region 10 exterior-door audit and said the district is in compliance on those items.
