HDC approves multiple summary and abbreviated applications, with conditions on materials and profiles

At its Sept. 15 meeting the commission granted summary approvals for multiple routine applications (including 11 Chartier Circle, 718 Bellevue Apt. 4, 37 William Street) and approved several abbreviated items—many with material conditions such as requiring all‑wood doors or painted wood trim.
The Newport Historic District Commission approved a series of staff‑recommended summary and abbreviated applications on Sept. 15, citing staff findings and moving multiple items on consent. Applications approved on summary included 11 Chartier Circle, 718 Bellevue Avenue (Apt. 4), 37 William Street and others; certificates of appropriateness were made valid for one year from the date of approval.
Several abbreviated items were approved with conditions after brief questions. For 71 Prospect Hill the commission required an all‑wood garage door and asked the applicant to submit a wood-cut sheet to staff; for 41 3rd Street the commission required all-wood Marvin windows and a wood door for the accessory structure; and for 599 Ocean Avenue commissioners required painted wood trim (see separate note).
