Superintendent Dr. Brandon Graham provided a series of operational updates during the July 13 meeting.
He reported that the state budget passed, and said Upper Elementary construction has started with foundations expected to be poured by the end of August. He noted unexpected power outages and water at the Junior High and High School and ongoing utility relocations. Dr. Graham announced the MTC ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for July 14 at 6:30 p.m., and highlighted recent student travel: 44 junior-high students traveled to Costa Rica and 104 junior-high students took an East Coast trip. He also mentioned that Jenny Riha, the high school counselor, was awarded a Michigan School Counselor Fellowship and will present in California.
Dr. Graham told the board the district received an estimate of $11,000–$15,000 to record board meetings and post them on the district website; the board indicated it will discuss the proposal further. The meeting then moved to closed session.
