District presentations show modest upticks in state assessment results and focus on RTI

Dr. Matt Anderson (S19) said the district met compliance and school-improvement requirements and will be evaluated on outcomes in the 2026–27 cycle; Pam Lewis (S12) and Jason Pieris (S20) highlighted increases in the percent of students scoring at levels 3–4 for ELA and math compared with statewide growth rates.
"When you compare that to math in the state of Kansas, that percentage increase was 2.3%...and in Shawnee Mission, that increase was 4.3%," Pam Lewis said as she walked through slide comparisons. Presenters and principals credited structured professional learning communities, six‑week data reviews and the district 'bull's eye' walkthrough tool for producing actionable classroom feedback that feeds RTI and intervention work.
