Parks & Recreation launches centralized sign‑up platform; town reports $20,000 youth program grant and camp enrollment

Councilmember Sandak reported that Parks & Recreation launched a centralized sign‑up and community information platform integrated with the Tuxedo Connect app to replace fragmented social‑media posts. He listed ongoing programs (co‑ed volleyball, basketball and soccer) and said a youth volleyball program begins March 5 with registration via the Bee Clutch application. Sandak said the Parks committee secured a $20,000 grant to support youth programs and the town camp, and that 93 children enrolled in last year’s camp; he requested a detailed camp update at the next meeting covering staffing and infrastructure readiness.

Deputy Supervisor Deirdre Murphy announced the Train Station Café is open to commuters and said the community room at Town Hall will be renovated (kitchen upgrades, new table and dais, cabinets) and will display artwork from the train station. Supervisor McMillen and Councilmember Adam Eirand praised the Highway Department and first responders for snow removal and emergency response during heavy snowfall; McMillen noted the snow brigade worked with only 10 people during snowfall rates of 2–3 inches per hour. Eirand also updated residents on a gas station interior‑finish project and said building‑department enforcement is addressing property maintenance and fire code issues on Route 17.
