Police chief reports calls, accreditation progress and outdated dam emergency plan

Police Chief Marsh told the board the department “responded to 359 calls for service, issued 172 traffic summonses and 42 parking summonses, investigated 18 motor vehicle accidents, and made 16 arrests.” He said a mock assessment by a lieutenant from the Village of Monroe produced high marks and that the department has been approved to proceed with a New York State assessment in December, with a vote expected in March and possible accreditation by March 2027.
Chief Marsh also flagged public‑safety documentation issues: he identified Lake Cohasset dam emergency action plans from 2008 with incorrect contact information and has begun work to correct and modernize those plans. He described a recent maintenance incident when a hot water heater burst and caused flooding in the police facility, noting replacement and preventative maintenance will be needed.
