Thurston approves four-year shared-services agreement with NYSDOT
Summary
The board adopted Resolution #8 (2025) approving a shared-services agreement with NYSDOT (April 5, 2025–April 5, 2029) under General Municipal Law §99-r that allows equipment and services to be shared between the town and the state up to $25,000 per party.
The Town Board on March 19 approved a shared-services agreement with the New York State Department of Transportation that runs from April 5, 2025, through April 5, 2029. The agreement, proposed under General Municipal Law Section 99-r, allows the State and the Municipality to lend or exchange materials, equipment and services to support highway needs (including snow- and ice-control) with a not-to-exceed value of $25,000 per party.
Supervisor Michael Volino said the town has no state roads but that the agreement grants NYSDOT authority to enter the town in emergencies and allows both parties to maximize utilization of resources. Holly Chase moved to accept the agreement and Noel Sylvester seconded; the motion passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.
