The Vincennes Community School Corp board approved a revision to the 2026–27 calendar that eliminates five early-release dates to ensure compliance with state instructional-minute monitoring.
Staff (S3) explained: "we're gonna remove 5 of those early release, November 3, December 1, March 2, April 6, and May 4, to be sure." The presenter said the Indiana Department of Education has changed monitoring and that staff are running close at the middle and high school levels; the board approved the calendar revision after a motion and second.
Staff added that if the district continues to use early-release days it will apply next year for a state waiver; the presenter noted the district has not used that waiver previously. The revision was adopted as a first decisive action on the calendar and staff said additional calendar changes tied to guidance on synchronous and asynchronous learning will return next month.
