The Abernathy ISD Board of Trustees approved multiple pay adjustments for the 2025–2026 school year during its June 23 meeting.
Trustee Matt Riley moved to approve "a $2,500 pay raise and $1,000 retention stipend for Admin Staff, excluding new hires for the 2025-2026 school year," and Trustee Manuel Adames Jr. seconded. The motion passed 5–0, with Marcus Sullivan and Matt Miller absent.
On a separate motion, the board approved a $2,500 pay increase for teachers with one to two years' experience and a 3% pay raise for secretaries, non‑contracted central office staff, paraprofessionals, counselors, nurses, maintenance, custodial and transportation employees, excluding new hires. Trustee Ty Horsford moved the teacher and classified/staff increases; Trustee Matt Riley seconded; the motion passed unanimously among members present.
Board minutes record the actions but do not attach the revised salary schedule document to the published record. Implementation will follow the district's standard payroll and hiring procedures.
