South Ogden swears in youth city council members, plans state legislature visit
Summary
The mayor swore in members of the South Ogden City Youth Council. Staff and council encouraged participation and announced Youth City Council Day at the state legislature on Jan. 22 and an annual strategic retreat on Jan. 31.
The mayor administered the oath to members of the South Ogden City Youth Council and welcomed the newly sworn members to participate in municipal activities.
City staff and council members praised the youth council and encouraged continued engagement. A staff member outlined an upcoming opportunity: "An exciting opportunity coming up on the January 22. It'll be, youth city council day at the legislature with the Utah League of Cities and Towns." Staff said the day will include a morning at the state capitol and a lunch where the youth will hear a governor's speech and meet state legislators.
Council and staff encouraged parents and members to attend and noted staff will handle registration and attempt to secure school excusal for the youth where possible. The council also reminded members of the Jan. 31 strategic planning retreat and April 16–18 Utah League midyear conference in St. George.
