Historic commission asks T‑Mobile for less‑visible antenna options; continues application

Garrett Conroy of Centerline Communications (speaker 15) outlined a project to replace six antennas at a Bellevue Avenue hotel, two of which are mounted on a historic balustrade. Staff and commissioners raised preservation and visibility concerns, telling the applicant to explore alternatives such as raising and setting back antennas from the balustrade or using a stealth flagpole treatment. "If it was behind the balustrade, we would navigate the propagation... we are in front to optimize the coverage," Conroy said, noting practical constraints.

Commissioners emphasized the balustrade as a defining architectural feature and asked for diagrams and clearer photo‑renderings showing line-of‑sight, mounting alternatives, and tradeoffs. The commission voted to continue the application to Nov. 10 so the applicant can present two options (raised/setback and stealth) and additional visualizations prior to a vote.
