District leaders told trustees June 25 that Academy ISD posted STAAR results for spring 2025 that exceeded state averages and outperformed every district in Region 12 across grades and subjects for the second consecutive year. Superintendent Darla Nolen credited staff and said the district will focus on areas needing improvement with curricular changes.
To address math weaknesses in specific grades, the board approved adoption of Bluebonnet math for use starting this summer. District staff scheduled in-district professional development in July to prepare teachers for the new curriculum implementation in 4th and 7th grade math.
